Milwaukee County Exec Scott Walker Vetoes Advance of Domestic Partner Benefits / Veto Override Vote To Occur

On Monday of this week, Milwaukee County Executive Scott Walker followed through on his promise and cast a veto on the groundwork being laid for providing domestic partner benefits to Milwaukee county employees.  The benefits would be provided for same sex domestic partners as well as opposite sex partners who choose not to marry, but shack up together.  Milwaukee County Supervisor Chris Larson is outraged by the veto accusing Scott Walker of launching "a misinformation campaign" and said passage of this measure is "an important first step in getting on the right side of history".  Supervisor Larson said, “this legislation must pass” and will fight to override Scott Walker’s veto.  This step of providing domestic partner benefits to county employees will likely come up for a veto override vote Wednesday, November 18th at 1:30pm in Room 200 of the Milwaukee County Courthouse.  It is imperative for Milwaukee County residents to contact their County Supervisors at (414) 278-4222.
