UW Health Committed to Second Trimester Abortions

Although the Madison Surgery Center no longer appears to be the venue for the planned second trimester abortions approved by UW Clinics and Authority Board, according to the May 5, 2010 Capitol Times, UW Health issued a statement denying it had dropped its plans [to provide second trimester abortions].  “UW Health remains strongly committed to a comprehensive women’s reproductive health service that includes this important procedure.  All of our clinical programs are designed and implemented to best serve the needs of our patients.  Because of the sensitive nature of this clinical program, we do not consider it in the best interests of our patients to discuss the timing or location of these services.  We remain steadfast in our commitment to ensure that area women have access to a comprehensive women’s health program.”  The Wisconsin State Journal also quoted UW Hospitals and Clinics Authority Board chairman David Walsh that they had not gone back on their decision to offer the abortions.  To voice your concerns on this issue you may contact the following:
